Ila Styler Messinger, beloved daughter of our Heavenly Father returned home on March 7, 2010 in Beaver, Utah following a gradual decline in health over the last few years.  Ila was born on May 18, 1924 to John Valentine & Erma Turner Styler.  Ila grew up in Oasis, Utah and attended school in Hinckley.  While attending high school Ila met her future husband, Aro Parkinson Messinger, who was teaching business classes there.  They were married December 21, 1945 in the Manti Temple after Arlo returned home from World War II.  Rumor has it that they never kissed until after they were engaged.

Five children were born to this union: Elizabeth (Michael) Grimshaw, Steven (Linda) Messinger, Jerry (Judy) Messinger, Ann (Dale) Christiansen, Mark (Valerie) Messinger.    They are blessed with 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who were the light of her life.  Her family is grateful for such a loving mother and grandmother.  Ila was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Primary and Relief Society.  She loved to sing in the choir.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years and of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.  She was active in many other social groups.  Ila enjoyed spending time with her family at their cabin in Merchant Valley, gardening, visiting her children, and watching her grandchildren participate in various activities.  Ila love to travel with her sisters and had the opportunity to visit Europe, China, Japan and Canada.  Ila was preceded in death by her husband Arlo, her daughter Elizabeth, and five siblings, Arlyn Styler, Ellen Anderson, Lucille Farr, Russell Styler and Nella Copelin.

Ila's family expressed their appreciation to the staff of the Beaver Long Term Care Facility for their kindness and love.

Funeral services will be held at the Beaver Fourth Ward LDS Chapel on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 10:00 am.  There will be a viewing Friday evening at the Southern Utah Mortuary in Beaver, Utah from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.  Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.  Online condolences can be sent to
