Spencer Duane Nielsen
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Spencer Duane Nielsen, 67, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2010 in Cedar City, Utah. He was born February 16, 1943 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Albert Spencer and Clara Brown Nielsen. He married the love of his life, Kayleen Sue Williams on December 9, 1995 in Roosevelt, Utah. The family wishes to thank all those at Valley View Medical Center for the loving care and assistance they always offered our husband and father.
Spencer was an avid genealogist and loved learning about his family’s unique and special history and sharing that with those he loved and cared so much about. He has a special love of southern Utah and loved spending time in the outdoors enjoying all of the Lord’s magnificent creations. Spencer enjoyed associating with countless friends throughout his life. He loved his country and was a proud of his service to the United States Army, stationed at Fort Ord, California, from which he was later honorably discharged.
Spencer was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint and we are certain a joyous reunion is taking place as he is preceded in death and reunited with both his parents, his brother Elmo "Mo" Clayson and many other family members and friends he knew and loved in this lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Kayleen "Kay" Nielsen of Cedar City, Utah, his children Sterling (Lori) Nielsen of Spanish Fork, Utah, Edward (Liz) Nielsen of Spanish Fork, Utah, Robert (Jenny) Nielsen of Spanish Fork, Utah, Blake (Jenny) Nielsen of Fruita, Colorado, Korina (Shawn) Wood of Cedar City, Utah, Kammie Myers of Winnemucca, Nevada, Kortni (Devin) Calloway of Cedar City, Utah, Kolton Nielsen of Cedar City, Utah and Kylie Nielsen of Cedar City, Utah. Also 28 grandchildren. His brother Ralph "Snick" Clayson of Spanish Fork, Utah and sister Janice Reay of Spanish Fork, Utah. He loved each of us very much. We loved our dad and he will be dearly missed until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Cedar 17th Ward Chapel, 256 South 900 West, Cedar City, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at Cedar 17th Ward building prior to funeral services. Your dad is missed at the Family History Center....He was loved by everyone there and we were just as excited as he was at finding another family member needing the blessings of the temple.
